Registered Physiotherapy for adults, seniors, and active professionals — chronic pain relief, post-surgical rehab, and gym-integrated recovery. Serving Stittsville, Kanata, Richmond, and Ottawa West.

BSc Kinesiology — Queen's University | MSc Physiotherapy — Brunel University London
Megan's path into physiotherapy started on the gym floor. After completing her BSc in Kinesiology at Queen's University, she worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach right here at BTB — helping members build strength, mobility, and resilience through training. That hands-on coaching experience led her to pursue her Master's in Physiotherapy at Brunel University London, where she trained alongside professionals treating everyone from post-surgical patients to active seniors. Now practicing as BTB's Resident Physiotherapist, Megan combines clinical skill with a coach's eye for movement — helping you get out of pain and stay there.

Young athletes in Stittsville are constantly pushing their bodies to the limit, striving for peak performance in their respective sports. However, this intense physical activity can sometimes lead to injuries. Massage therapy can be an effective way to prevent and manage these injuries, helping young athletes stay in top condition and achieve their goals.
Massage therapy offers numerous benefits that can help young athletes prevent injuries:
Improved Flexibility: Regular massage sessions can enhance muscle elasticity and joint flexibility, reducing the risk of strains and sprains. By keeping muscles and connective tissues supple, athletes are less likely to experience injuries caused by tightness and restricted movement.
Enhanced Circulation: Massage therapy promotes better blood flow, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to muscles. Improved circulation can reduce muscle fatigue and soreness, enabling athletes to perform at their best and recover more quickly.
Muscle Balance: Athletes often develop muscle imbalances due to repetitive movements specific to their sport. Massage therapy can help address these imbalances by targeting overused muscles and promoting relaxation and recovery. This can prevent overuse injuries and improve overall performance.
Relaxation and Stress Reduction: High levels of physical and mental stress can increase the risk of injuries. Massage therapy activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. This can lead to better focus, improved sleep, and a reduced risk of stress-related injuries.
In addition to preventing injuries, massage therapy is also effective in managing and rehabilitating existing injuries:
Pain Relief: Massage therapy can alleviate pain associated with injuries such as muscle strains, sprains, and tendinitis. Techniques like deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy are particularly effective for reducing pain and inflammation.
Faster Recovery: Massage therapy enhances the body’s natural healing processes by improving circulation and reducing muscle tension. This can speed up recovery time, allowing young athletes to return to their sport more quickly.
Reduced Scar Tissue: Injuries can lead to the formation of scar tissue, which can limit flexibility and movement. Massage therapy can break down scar tissue, promoting better healing and restoring normal function.
Improved Range of Motion: After an injury, muscles and joints can become stiff and less mobile. Massage therapy can help restore range of motion by gently stretching and mobilizing affected areas, ensuring that athletes regain full functionality.
Psychological Benefits: Dealing with an injury can be mentally challenging for young athletes. Massage therapy can provide emotional support by reducing anxiety and promoting a sense of well-being, which is crucial for a positive recovery experience.
Massage therapy is an invaluable tool for supporting young athletes in Stittsville. By preventing injuries, alleviating pain, and promoting faster recovery, massage therapy helps young athletes stay in peak condition and continue to excel in their sports. Encourage your young athlete to incorporate regular massage therapy sessions into their training regimen to experience these benefits firsthand.
