If you've been training at BTB, you've probably noticed that your hands aren't exactly in hand model condition. It's the price we pay for the work we do! But calluses, hand tears, and bloody hands don't have to be the norm. In fact, with a little bit of effort, you can protect your hands and avoid the hassle of tearing a palm on pull-ups. Here's how:
Use hand grips or tape. When you're working with heavy weights or doing high-rep exercises, it's easy to end up with cuts, scrapes, and blisters. To protect your skin, consider using hand grips or tape to help cushion your hands.
Moisturize regularly. Your hands are exposed to the elements all day long, so it's important to keep them hydrated. Use a moisturizing lotion or balm after every workout to keep your skin soft and supple.
Clean your hands properly. It might seem obvious, but washing your hands regularly can go a long way in preventing infections and keeping your skin healthy. Use warm water and a mild soap to gently clean your hands, and make sure to dry them thoroughly afterwards.
Use lotions or balms with protective ingredients. Some products, like those containing beeswax or petroleum jelly, can help protect your skin from tearing and abrasion.
By following these simple tips, you can keep your hands healthy and strong, no matter how hard you train.
