Sam Sabourin

Sam founded Between The Bumpers because he was tired of watching capable adults get squeezed out of fitness — by chaotic gyms, intimidating CrossFit boxes, and influencer culture that made everyone feel like they didn't belong.

He built BTB to be the place he wished existed: a calm, structured, professional space for real people who want strength, longevity, and confidence in their bodies — without the noise.

Based on what you share, we'll suggest the best starting point — personal training, semi-private, or group fitness. Sometimes we recommend you start somewhere else entirely. We'd rather be honest than push.

Am I too old (or too out of shape) for this?

No. The majority of our personal training clients are between 40 and 65, and many haven't trained seriously in years — or ever. We meet you exactly where you are. Every program is built around your current ability, your history, and your goals. You won't be the slowest. You won't be out of place.

How is this different from a regular gym?

Most gyms sell access — you walk in, figure it out, hope you stay consistent. We sell guidance. Every session is coached. Every program is built for you. You don't need to think about what to do, how heavy, or whether your form is right. We handle that.

If you've ever joined a gym and quit because you didn't know what to do, that's exactly the problem we solve.

Is this CrossFit?

No. We focus on strength and conditioning — but without the competition, leaderboards, or "push to failure" culture. Our priority is sustainable, long-term strength. Adults 35+ get hurt in CrossFit gyms because the model isn't built for them. Ours is.

What does it cost?

It depends on the program — personal training, semi-private, and group fitness all have different price points. We'll go over options on the discovery call once we understand what fits your situation. We're a premium coaching center, not a $40/month access gym, but most of our members tell us it's the most worthwhile investment they make in their health.

I have an old injury / back pain / a bad knee. Can I still train?

Yes — and this is actually one of our specialties. We work closely with our in-house physiotherapy and athletic therapy team, so we can build programs around injuries safely. Many members come to us because their physio recommended it.

How quickly do most people see results?

Most members feel a real difference within 4–6 weeks — better energy, less stiffness, more confidence. Visible strength changes typically take 8–12 weeks. We're not selling a 6-week transformation. We're building strength that lasts decades.

What if I'm not sure which program is right for me?

That's literally what the discovery call is for. We'll ask about your goals, schedule, and history, and recommend what fits. There's no commitment. Many people start with one program and adjust as they go.
